Abstract

In vehicle development process, a computer aided engineering (CAE) methods e.g. stiffness, aerodynamics or metal forming simulation. These CAE or simulations methods are used to describe a behavior of product and simultaneous validate a product design. From a technical viewpoint, these numerous validation methods have to be executed and synchronized in a process considering their generic interdependencies. For instance in case of car motorhood, multi-physics simulation process includes aerodynamic simulation and stiffness simulation. The process has factors like dependency of pressure distribution on surface, coupling of volume and structural mesh, time and work flow. So far, the CAE process has been accomplished partially and in a manual way, which make engineers unable to validate a complete product in faster and more efficient way. A concept of new methodology to develop a CAE network and deriving an explicit product, phase, and priority oriented CAE process from that is described. Goal of the research work is to improve the quality of simulation process by forging an IT-supported network of CAE methods in a process.
